Jesus came to advance the kingdom of God - a community of political justice, economic equity and relationship with God as expressed throughout the scripture. But much of today’s church has lost that vision and has sought to preserve itself as an institution. Partners' mission is to help the church reclaim the biblical vision of the kingdom of God. We are committed to: · Call and challenge the church to engage in public life in specific, concrete and practical ways · Hold the body of Christ accountable to the social vision practiced by Jesus and taught throughout the Bible · Equip the church to build and use relational power for social transformation in its city, county and nation · Embrace the principles and strategies of community organizing as an effective way to exercise that power · Bring about the empowerment of the poor to build their own destiny |

![]() Partners In Urban Transformation is a group of pastors, community organizers and leaders who have served in the city for years. We mentor others on the front-lines of urban ministry by providing resources, support, training and practical strategies. We partner with individuals as well as with churches, denominations, mission agencies and community organizations. Partners teaches the biblical foundation for faith-based community organizing. We believe we can make a difference for peace, justice and righteousness in our cities. Our experience has taught us that, by building relationships, we can draw individuals out of isolation to act jointly as problem-solvers. Through this process, people unite around their shared faith, values and vision. From there, they work together with combined power for the transformation of their community. |

| Since 1986, Partners and its predecessor Urban Advance have trained and mentored thousands of people in new approaches to urban ministry. Our former students have gone on to create 34 neighborhood organizations, start 54 businesses among the poor, build 6,000 homes, found effective urban churches and teach these disciplines to hundreds of others. Recent partnerships by Partners' president, board and associates include organizing work in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Pomona, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Oakland and Los Angeles. | ![]() |
